To the editor:

I do not agree with our legislature’s decision to refuse funding for Charter Schools. The cost of education in New Hampshire continues to rise. These costs will become unsustainable. It will require creative thinking to change this dynamic.

Following is a message which I sent to all of my state representatives. The State of New Hampshire should accept the federal grant to support charter schools.

My reasons follow:

■The public school system is extremely costly. We have a declining enrollment and increasing costs. This cannot continue. The public school system will not become more efficient unless it has competition.

■American citizens should be able to choose where they want to send their children to school.

■Charter schools usually provide a superior education. What is your position on Charter Schools and the current situation in our public school system?
