Friday morning, the Jaffrey Public Library staff came to work to discover quite a crowded front lawn. It had been filled overnight with dozens of snowmen.
“We are thrilled. It made everyone smile, and it was such a spontaneously joyful gesture,” Library Director Julie Perrin said.
The little snow village covered the lawn with snowmen large and small, even with a few snowmen in surprising places – miniatures placed on top of the book drop, the library steps, and even in trees.
“We had no idea where they came from, but whoever did it came prepared with a lot of carrots for noses,” Perrin said.
No one knows for sure who perpetrated the surprise, but Perrin said she has heard through the grapevine that it was done by local teenagers.
