To the editor:
I am writing to share my enthusiastic support of Bernie Sanders for the democratic nomination.
After following his work in the House and the Senate for the past 25 years I have complete faith that Bernie will fight for the issues that are important to working people and the planet as he has done throughout his whole career.
With a large field of qualified candidates, it was not an easy decision for me at first. But it really comes down to a few things. While some people look at the idea of health care for all as too radical, I look at my husband’s chronic illness and the rising cost of my insurance premiums as well as the millions of uninsured Americans. Bernie’s unwavering stance on universal healthcare as a basic human right resonates with me.
Also, after wrestling with the idea of electability, I have come to the decision that engaging disenfranchised voters is the way to win this election. (”You need to turn ‘em on to turn ‘em out.”) I have watched how Bernie’s consistent message about getting big money out of politics has ignited a movement , which I believe can win back the White House.
And finally, while considering whether Bernie might be too old to be president, I have watched him closely in the past few months. What I have seen is a candidate who is filled with a fiery passion and determination to make big change happen and a candidate who, I am more convinced than ever, has the strength, stamina and will to do the job while inspiring a new generation to get involved in a government for all the people.
Bernie Sanders has my trust and will have my vote on February 11.
