To the editor:
They say I can’t talk politics at all this time of year. It’s ever so disruptive to everyone’s holiday cheer. So democracy be patient while I have another beer. That our President committed crimes is abundantly clear And many who defend his acts do so out of fear That the power they love so much won’t last another year.
The constitution was made to protect our fragile democracy. Do we set aside this assault and embrace complacency? No quid pro quo? No treasonous acts? No transparency!
We have a choice ahead of us of societal proportion. Should we embrace a man who loves to use extortion? Let’s set aside the rule of law, choose constitutional distortion?
So the gift I want the most to see beneath the Christmas tree is a big old box of “Shame on them” and righteous indignity. It’s the only way I know to heal our democracy!
Power is said to corrupt and it is abundantly clear that this president has abused his power and so much worse I fear. Democracy cannot wait while we have another beer.
The greatest gift we all can get from this holiday season Is a constitutional government guided by sound reason. We cannot wait until the party is done to remove this unlawful lesion.
So don’t be quiet, don’t be shy, speak your mind and say truth can only win when it sees the light of day. The Constitution has been broken and the criminals must pay!
Let the holidays go on, shared both far and near. But please don’t forget the Democracy we all hold dear. Speak your mind to power as you hoist and share that beer.
