To the editor:

We both have health insurance through a Medicare Advantage plan, but we still support Elizabeth Warren’s Medicare for All plan. Our plan is costly, with many deductibles. And besides, it feels wrong for millions of Americans to live without health insurance.

A neighbor of ours recently had an accident while chopping wood and didn’t go to the ER because he didn’t have health insurance. That’s not the kind of America we want to live in, so we read Senator Warren’s health plan and have heard her speak about it several times.

Elizabeth has a detailed path for the transition to Medicare for All, taking into account the complexity of our health care system and ensuring no one loses care. On day one in office she will use executive authority to reverse the Trump administration’s sabotage of health care, make desperately needed improvements to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid; and lower pharmaceutical costs for millions of families. Within her first 100 days, she’ll use a fast-track legislative process to create a Medicare for All option – immediately free for nearly half of all Americans – that will include all of the benefits Medicare for All will provide, including mental health care, dental, vision, and more. This will immediately address the health crises so many Americans are facing with little to no coverage – and build the public trust she’ll need to complete the full transition to Medicare for All.

Elizabeth’s plan doesn’t just double down on her commitment to Medicare for All – it smartly accounts for the ramp up we’ll need to get there. We trust Elizabeth Warren: she has a track record of creating structural change to benefit all the people, and she knows what it takes to win.
