To the editor:

Jeffrey Dickler’s letter ( Oct 10) declared, “Trump broke the law by soliciting help on internal political matters from foreign governments.” Why, he complains, is this “not the top headline.”

What President Trump did do was simply ask the Ukrainian government to assist in a potential criminal investigation into reported (by Biden!) actions undertaken by then VP Biden. This is completely within the duties and responsibilities of his office.

Assistance into criminal investigations is customary and common among most all nations. Biden’s possible abuse of his position as Vice President certainly has political consequences today.

But that is no reason to give him a free pass that no other American would enjoy.
