The JRMS girls’ cross-country team took first place in a four-team meet with Winchendon, Fitchburg and Monadnock on Wednesday.
Amarah Lapinsky lead the victorious girls team, placing second. Neve Mormando had a strong run, placing third. Amber Gnoza was seventh.
“Depth was key to the victory,” said head coach Kevin McCusker, as JRMS runners took the 12-16th places. Jenna Paquin was 12th, Maya Pressman was 13th, Kaylee Truong was 14th, Ashlynd Carey was 15th, and Ellie Cassidy was 16th. Coming in 19th was Kendra Wooster, with Grace Clark in 22nd, of 31 finishers.
JRMS’s John Morrilly once again lead the charge in the boys’ race, taking seventh place. Austen Richard was 12th, Trayton Chapman, hurdling over fallen runners, was 18th, Kadin Rinaldi 21st, and Mason Karpinsky 23rd. Joey Cooper was 45th. The boys lost to Murdock (Winchendon) by one point, to finish fourth.
The teams will be hosting Great Brook, Boynton, Surry Village, Winchester and The Well School on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 3:30 p.m.
