In a rematch of an earlier cross-country meet in Jaffrey, Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School, Great Brook School and Winchester Middle School raced on Tuesday at GBS in Antrim.
For the girls, Amarah Lapinsky (JRMS) made a move just before the halfway point, and maintained a lead over nemesis Leah Ducharme of GBS, to capture her first cross-country victory , with a time of 13:08, over the 1.86 mile course. Ducharme would place second in 13:44. Winchester’s Lyla Wright grabbed the third spot, in 14:05, with the JRMS duo of Amber Gnoza and Neve Mormando finishing fourth and fifth (14:06, 14:38.) With two JRMS runners sidelined with injuries, Maya Pressman helped pick up the slack (ninth, 17:03), while a newcomer to JRMS cross-country, Kaylee Truong, impressed with a fine 10th place finish (17:04).
In the boys’ race, Ian Cardinale, a star runner from Winchester, once again dominated, with a time of 11:28. The JRMS frontrunners snapped up second and thirrd with John Morrilly (12:56) and Austen Richard (12:57). Kadin Rinaldi and Mason Karpinski completed the JRMS boys team, finishing 10th/14:13 and 12th/14:28.
JRMS will next run in the Connecticut Valley Small Shoot Out (at Monadnock High School) this Saturday, with the girls’ race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
