To the editor:
After much negotiation with the governor, the two houses of the NH legislature have managed to come up with a compromise budget. They will vote on this tomorrow, Sep 25. If the governor fails to sign the budget before Oct 1, town tax rates across the state will be millions higher. The budget stops cuts and restores education stabilization funding and provides revenue sharing to towns for this first time in many years. These increased revenues to towns mean that town property tax rates will be lower. For some area towns, this is $1/4 million or more.
To encourage the governor to sign the budget, and lower property taxes, call 271-2121.
