To the editor:
As a former therapist for 37 years I have compassion for the current occupant of the White House and the many follows he has repeatedly conned and lied to. When I see Trump’s eyes and facial expression nowadays I observe a highly stressed, deeply wounded, very troubled human being, who is acting hurtfully with his defensive attitude and very unpredictable behavior. His several untreated personality disorders cause him to be grandiose, lack empathy, avoid help from knowledgeable others and be accountable for his mistakes. As time unfolds he keeps getting more troubled. He has taken his anger and fear and cleverly manipulated many hurting people who got clobbered by the Great Recession of 2008 to become his base of support. He keeps feeding his base by his constant attention-grabbing outlandish behaviors, along with his scapegoating and treating non-white human beings very meanly.
If American was now a banana republic we’d currently be in the midst of a “them and us” civil war. Much damage here and around the world is now being done by the wrecking ball and his many enablers. To truly make America great the deeply troubled guy, a man of ten thousand lies, must go, along with his fear-based mentality.
