To the editor:
There is something you can do! Seek truth! Join a group of us from New Hampshire and New York traveling to El Paso Nov. 9 to 16 to participate in the Border Awareness Experience, facilitated by Annunciation House.
The cost is $90/day plus airfare. This includes all transportation in El Paso, three meals a day and dormitory lodging. The objective of the BAE is to facilitate face to face meetings and encounters between BAE participants and people and groups on both sides of the Border.
It seeks put a face on the immigrant, the refugee, and the Border Patrol Agent. Participants will be completely immersing themselves in the Border culture and their surroundings for the duration of their visit.
That means spending time with the volunteers and the migrants who live in our houses. It means eating the simple meals that are served.
Annunciation House began in 1978. It was founded by a small group of young people from El Paso committed to working and living in solidarity with the poorest of the poor; offering their work or services for free and receiving no monetary compensation in return. Annunciation House continues to be funded entirely by private donations by individual and groups.
The work is still carried out by an all-volunteer staff. Interested? Contact: baetrip2019@gmail.com For more information about Annunciation House, please visit www.annunciationhouse.org. For more about the Border Awareness Experience, go to www.annunciationhouse.org/bae.
