A dead body found in Lake Winnipesaukee Sunday morning has been identified as a Peterborough man.
According to state police, Benjamin Whitehill, 34, of Peterborough visited the area of Braun Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough on Saturday with friends. When his friends were ready to leave that evening, they could not locate Whitehill, and assumed he’d left with another boater.
On Sunday morning, a paddleboarder on the lake reported finding Whitehill’s body in a few feet of water. He was transported to shore and pronounced dead.
At this time, the case remains under investigation although foul play is not suspected, according to state police.
