To the editor:
My name is Grace Audette, and I am a Scout.
This year, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) underwent a lot of new changes. In February 2019, The BSA allowed females to join the Scouting Program. Before this change was made, females in America were only allowed to join the Venturing Program. Now, girls from kindergarten through 12th grade can join the Cub Scouts and Scouts, BSA (formerly Boy Scouts). I thought this change was wicked awesome and I was very interested in joining the program. I am currently working at Camp Wanocksett, in Dublin, New Hampshire as a camp counselor. It is a scout camp and this is my second year on staff.
I am in the venturing program and I am in Scouts, BSA. I am very excited that the BSA is allowing females into the program now. It is about time, in my opinion. Camp Wanocksett has had a lot of new female troops come to spend a week at camp.
It is a difficult change for many people, but it is one that is welcome. The camp environment is changing for the better. The future of Scouting is heading towards a more inclusive place for everyone.
