Andy’s Summer Playhouse will host the second week of its workshop series July 8-12, during which children have the opportunity to be mentored by theatre professionals and explore the fields of directing or playwriting.

Over the course of the week, children ages 8 to 18, will either direct or produce their own short scripts, and will learn about narrative structure, action and objective, and how to express ideas theatrically as a playwright or director.

The Directing Lab will be led by Annika Boras, an American actress known for her dramatic stage work and for her portrayal of Louise Sinclair on “The Following” on Fox and for her role of Captain Lynette Cunningham on “Chicago Fire” on NBC. She was nominated for a Drama League Award for her portrayal of Elektra in “An Oresteia” at Classic Stage Company Off-Broadway.

The Playwriting Lab will be led by Jacob Dunham, an award-winning theatre director based in Manhattan, New York. His work has varied from directing and casting for Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, opera, and TV/film.

The workshops will meet Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.

You can enroll in a workshop online at www.andyssummerplayhouse.org, at the Andy’s Summer Playhouse box office, or via phone at (603) 654-2613. Each workshop costs $150, and Andy’s can offer full or partial scholarships to any family who needs one.
