An Antrim man died of an apparent medical issue while driving on Elm Avenue in Antrim on Monday morning.
Edward Lemire, 60, of Antrim, was driving a white 2005 Ford F150 on Elm Avenue, when his head suddenly dropped back to his headrest, and he went unconscious, his passenger told police, Antrim Police Chief Scott Lester said at the scene of the crash.
The truck went offroad and came to a rest on the shoulder, without damaging the vehicle or injuring Lemire’s passenger, Lester said.
Lemire’s passenger, his cousin, and a passing motorist were able to take Lemire out of the vehicle, and begin CPR until ambulance personnel arrived.
Fire Chief Marshall Gale said Lemire was unconscious and not breathing when crews arrived and attempted to resuscitate him.
“CPR was started on the scene and all resuscitation measures were initiated,” Gale said. “We never got back the return of spontaneous circulation.”
Personnel stopped attempts to revive Lemire at the scene.
Lemire was co-owner of R. Lemire & Sons, a logging company located on Elm Avenue in Antrim.
