A 16-year-old Jaffrey boy was airlifted with serious injuries after a motor vehicle crash on Saturday evening.

Police responded to Gilmore Pond Road at the Mountain Brook Reservoir on Saturday at 7:41 p.m., for a report of a motor vehicle accident with the driver trapped, Jaffrey Police Chief Bill Oswalt said Monday.

The 1994 Chevrolet Geoprism had left the road, impacting with a pine tree.

The driver, a 16-year-old Jaffrey resident, was unconscious when police arrived.

โ€œHis head was sandwiched between theย vehicleโ€™s b-pillar and the headrest,โ€ Oswalt said, referring to the frame separating the front and back seat.

From tire marks at the scene, it appears speed was a factor in the crash, Oswalt said.

โ€œIt appears he couldnโ€™t manage the curve at the speed it was being operated,โ€ Oswalt said. โ€œThe vehicle spun back, wrapping it around the tree.โ€

The driver was airlifted by helicopter to UMass Memorial in Worcester with serious injuries.ย
