Residents from Jaffrey and Rindge turned out on Saturday to campaign for Athletic Director David Springfield to be named the new Activities Director for the Jaffrey-Rindge School District.

“He’s an awesome guy who just loves this community,” Gordy Olin of Rindge, whose children had Springfield as a coach.

“He’s someone who does so much for the town,” Kevin Hampsey of Jaffrey said. “He instills good ethics in these kids, and that’s what you need him to do. It just irks me when I see this happen to a local guy.”

Springfield has been athletic director for the past two years. A group of residents has been rallying around Springfield for the past several weeks when they began hearing rumors Springfield was being passed over for a full-time activities director role, a newly created position that includes Springfield’s athletic director duties.
