An Antrim man has been indicted on three charges related to an alleged physical and sexual assault of a child in 2015.
On Feb. 13, a Hillsborough Superior Court Grand Jury indicted Michael Annis, 60, of Antrim, on one charge of second-degree assault and two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
All three charges relate to alleged multiple instances involving the same female child, who was 9 years old at the time.
According to indictments filed at the Superior Court, Annis allegedly โengaged in a pattern of sexual assaultโ against the girl โon more than one occasion over a period of two months or moreโ.
The documents allege the assaults took place between July 22, 2015 and September 19, 2016.
The physical assault charge alleges Annis injured the girl by grabbing her by the wrist and twisting his hands, causing her skin to become tender and get a friction burn.
Second-degree assault is a class B felony and can carry penalties of three and a half to seven years in prison or $4,000 in fines.
Pattern sexual assault is a class S felony.
Indictments are not an indication of guilt or innocence but a ruling by a grand jury that there is sufficient evidence to bring a case forward to trial.
