About 14 people in attendance at the Hancock Town Library traded in their bookmarks for knives on Tuesday night, all a part of a fermentation class.
A 14-year fermentation veteran, Erica Fayrie-Malone, provided instruction on the evening, teaching those in attendance the process of lacto-fermentation, or the use of healthy bacteria to safely pickle one’s favorite vegetables.
The workshop provided instruction on all of the basics of fermentation, with patrons walking away with their own small batch of veggies of their choice.
