A New Ipswich man was indicted in district court on two felony and four misdemeanor charges stemming from a theft that unfolded on June 9.
Andrew Simpson, 32, faces the charges after he allegedly stole a pickup truck from a gas station in Manchester and drove it into Bedford. During the incident, he also refused to pull over, grabbed a first responder, resisted arrest, and was found to be in possession of marijuana, according to court documents.
Simpson is facing two felony-level charges for receiving stolen property over $1,500 from a victim referred to as “R.F.” in court documents. Simpson is also facing a felony charge for attempted theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly getting into the truck and driving it from the gas station and into Bedford. Each charge carries a maximum of 7 and a half to 15 years of prison time and a maximum fine of up to $4,000.
He is being charged with disobeying an officer after he allegedly refused to pull over on South River Road in Bedford.
Simpson is also facing a simple-assault charge for allegedly grabbing the arm of a Bedford firefighter or licensed medical care provider referred to as “M.R.” in court documents.
He’s being charged with resisting arrest or detention after he allegedly interfered with a victim referred to as “B.B” and is identified as a law-enforcement official in court documents. Simpson faces the charge after he resisted “B.B’s” attempted to place handcuffs on him.
Each represents class A misdemeanors.
He is facing a controlled drug act; acts prohibited charge after he was allegedly found in possession of an unidentified quantity of a controlled drug, marijuana. The charge is classified as a class B misdemeanor.
