Rindge’s Select Board is discussing the possibility of bringing in a contractor to reappraise cell towers in town.
Selectmen did not agree during their meeting Wednesday to any contract at this time as tax bills had already been sent out. The board intends to look at the process again in October/November.
“We’ve been looking at these cell towers as there is a chance they are grossly undervalued,” said Select Board chair Roberta Oeser, at the meeting.
Oeser said the structures could be assessed in two ways: by the value of the structure or the value of the contracted income of the towers. Oeser said there are two, maybe three towers in town that could be assessed.
The Selectmen also discussed the recent town auction, noting that 11 of 12 properties have already closed.
The remaining property, a home sold on Rand Road, has yet to close due to issues around an IRS lien on the property.
The board agreed to give the auction winners until July 19 at 5 p.m. to convey the deed, an extension from the previously agreed to July 10th deadline.
If the bid winner does not settle issues by then the board discussed offering the property to the next bidder in line.
An auction will be held for the town-owned vehicle that was previously on that property on July 26 at 8 a.m. The town is expected to win the bid, as the town can place as high of a bid as it chooses to since the town would be paying itself for the vehicle.
