A motorist in New Ipswich was sent to the hospital with a possible head injury last week after he struck a tree with his vehicle.

New Ipswich police were dispatched to Turnpike Road on June 30 at 6:04 p.m. to a single-car accident, according to a press release posted on the departmentโ€™s Facebook page.ย 

Upon arrival, police made contact with a male occupant โ€“ย who was not named in the release โ€“ย that was entrapped in a 2008 Ford Mustang. The occupant was unconscious, but breathing, and had to be extricated from the car by the New Ipswich Fire Department.ย 

Initial investigation shows that the operator was westbound on Turnpike Road, when he crossed over into the eastbound lane and later went off the road, where he lost control of the vehicle. The Mustang struck three trees and then the vehicle came to an โ€œuncontrolled rest,โ€ according to police.ย 

The man as transported to Monadnock Community Hospital with a possible head injury.ย 

The vehicle sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene. The roadway had to be cleared ad vehicle debris was spread throughout the roadway.ย 

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

Attempts to reach the New Ipswich Police Department for more information were unsuccessful.ย
