Dublin’s Selectmen discussed broadband and LED lighting during Monday’s meeting.
The board discussed a proposal to upgrade lighting at the police department, highway department, and transfer station, but decided to defer any decisions until the end of the year.
“It’s not in the budget, so we shouldn’t do it until we determine we have money left over in the budget,” said Selectman Dale Gabel.
While the switch would save the town money in the long run, the board elected to wait until the end of the year because no funds were budgeted for such a project.
At the end of the year, Selectmen said, the town would have a better idea as to whether there were excess funds in the budget available.
If there are no excess funds, the board agreed to budget for the project — which could be supplanted with some rebates — in the 2018 budget.
The board also discussed a request for proposal (RFP) for the broadband study approved at Town Meeting in March.
The board decided to have town council look at the RFP before sending the project out to bid.
The Selectmen held their monthly meeting with Road Agent Brian Barden.
Barden said he has received the new blower that was approved at Town Meeting, and has tried it out by blowing some sand from the road.
