Dublin’s Selectmen are trying to find a cost-effective way to add heating and air conditioning to the Town Clerk’s office, a process that could involve moving the office downstairs.
The only decision made during Monday’s Select Board meeting was to talk with Town Clerk/Tax Collector Jeannine Dunne during the board’s April 17 meeting to get input from her on the matter.
“I think we need to invite her to a meeting to determine the space and security requirements of the office,” said Selectman Sturdy Thomas.
The board has been working with Dunne to find a better way to heat and cool her office.
A number of options have been looked into, but security requirements for the room or prohibitive costs have been an issue.
The board discussed switching the town clerk’s office with the code enforcement officer’s office, which could help to alleviate some of the heating and cooling issues and add handicap accessibility to the office.
Bringing the office downstairs could require some walls and other things to be built – which would take away some room from the downstairs meeting space – but Town Administrator Sherry Miller said meetings that are traditionally held there could be moved upstairs or to the library if the space became inadequate.
While there is no money specifically set aside for the project, Thomas said emergency or excess funds could be used to fund any construction or other costs that may come up.
