As March threatens to go out like a lion, the New Ipswich recreation department has its schedule of early-summer activities to look forward to.
The recreation committee met last week and Selectman Tim Johnson presented the listings to that board Tuesday night. The schedule will be finalized and events will be assigned times.
On Saturday, April 8, kids can participate in an annual Easter egg hunt at Memorial Park. Easter Sunday is April 16.
On Saturday, April 22, volunteers are encouraged to help with the town-wide clean-up. Bags will be made available at the town office beginning two weeks beforehand.
On Saturday, May 20, there will be a fishing derby from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Cemetery Pond on Main Street.
Wednesday, June 14, will be this year’s town yard sale day, which you can host at your home or at Memorial Field. It doubles as a Fourth of July celebration fundraiser. The recreation department is hosting town fireworks this Independence Day, hoping to reignite a tradition.
The pool will open sometime in June.
Additionally, Friday night movies will take place every other week beginning on June 30. The films shown will be “Sing” (2016), “Hercules” (1997), “Space Jam” (1996), “Storks” (2016), and “The Lego Batman Movie” (2017).
