The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s investigation into a recent injury at a Rindge workplace could take as much as six months, according to labor officials.
Hannu Contracting of Rindge is the company being investigated, according to Deputy Regional Director for Public Affairs with the U.S. Department of Labor James Lally.
“The purpose of the inspection is to determine whether or not any workplace safety standards were violated in connection with this incident,” said Lally. “If the inspection identifies violations, OSHA could cite and propose fines for the employer being inspected.”
An employee of Hannu Contracting was working at a job site at 1090 Route 119 on Jan. 4 when he was injured after falling about 20 feet. The man had been working on a group of 60-foot trusses when they collapsed, causing him to fall. The man was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital with chest and rib injuries, and was eventually transported to UMass as a precaution.
The building being constructed at the site is a showroom for Triumph Interiors, which is located down the street.
Lally said that at this time, there is no timetable for completion of the investigation.
