New Ipswich has 11 open elected official positions across town offices this year.
There is one position on the Select Board open. It’s term is for three years.
There are two positions on the Budget Committee open. Their terms are one year and two years.
There are two positions on the Planning Board and one on the Board of Assessors open. Their terms are for three years.
Residents will also vote for one treasurer (two years), two trustees of the trust funds (one year and three years).
The town clerk and tax collector are both up for election for three year terms. There is a warrant on the ballot to combine these positions beginning in 2018. If that passes, the terms would expire after one year and there would be an election for the new position next year.
The first day to file declarations of candidacy or nomination petitions with the town clerk is Jan. 25. The last day for filing is Feb. 3. Check the town website for town clerk business hours
The town election will be held on March 14.
