HancockA return to Vietnam

In 1967, Rodger Martin spent one of the most compelling years of his life as a combat engineer in Vietnam. Fifty years later, he had the opportunity to return, and on Thursday, through slides, poetry, and conversation at the Hancock Town Library, heโ€™ll tells the story of then and now. โ€“ย what has recovered and what hasnโ€™t.

Martin was managing editor of The Worcester Review for almost three decades.Currently he serves as an editor for Hobblebush Booksโ€™ Granite State Poetry Series.

Martin also teaches journalism at Keene State College, co-advises The Equinox, the collegeโ€™s student news organization, and has done artist-in-residency programs throughout New England. In 2012, he was chosen as a poet to represent the U.S. at the annual international cultural festival in Hangzhou, China. He returned in 2015 to read and lecture on poetry at Nanjing University and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.

Martinโ€™s presentation will be at 7 p.m. It will be free and open to all.
