To the editor:
Operation Santa, an offshoot of the Rindge Woman’s Club, is now almost 30 years old. It owes its continuing success to the many community organizations and the generous donations of the people of the Rindge area. This year 78 children from 29 families were provided a happier holiday.
Rindge Walmart and TD Bank provided space for trees. Special thanks for monetary donations from P.O.O.R, Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary, Market Basket employees, RAMS, Theodore Coverts, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and several anonymous donors. FPU’s staff and students donated socks, books, and toys. TD Bank employees assisted with the purchase of gifts provided by an anonymous patron. John and Lynda Hunt, and FPU’s Accounting Department each adopted a family. Toys were given by Frank Wenzler, Rindge Walmart and the residents of Summerhill Assisted Living community. Knitted winter hats were made by Cheryl Marsh and Sharon Motta. Tags were made by Rindge Woman’s Club members Linda Dodge, Ronalee Hietala and Michele Madjerec. Help with wrapping gifts involved members Jeanne Carguillo, Linda Dodge, Michele Madjerec, Kathy McEachern and Ronalee Hietala. Thanks to the Operation Santa committee: Rae DuVernay, Sarah Dengler, and Ronalee Hietala. Jim John, Jan Griska, Jim Qualey, Craig Starrett and Dave DuVernay did the heavy lifting, moving 69 large contractor bags from cellar to garage. Supervision was provided by Candice Starrett and Kathy John.
It takes a village and Rindge is indeed a generous village.
