Food pantry meetings planned

Representatives from several churches and food pantries met in Peterborough in October to discuss the possibility of an east-of-the-mountain hunger walk to support the local pantries and the more than 700 families they serve. It was decided that a spring hunger walk would be particularly helpful in raising money for the summer when, with children out of school, need increases and donations decrease.

Because the region is wide and the weather uncertain, the group decided to hold two area community meetings to formulate specific details of the event including location, administration and distribution of funds raised. Those two meetings have been set for Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Greenfield Coventry Churchโ€™s Ministry Center (12 Depot Drive in Greenfield) and Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Jaffrey Civic Center (40 Main St., Jaffrey).

Interested individuals, congregations, civic groups, schools, sports teams, towns are encouraged to attend.
