The Cornucopia Project will be cooking up a storm this winter with expanded youth programs, thanks to a grant from the Keith M. Sullivan Foundation.
Cool Chefs, an afterschool nutrition-based cooking program, now serves students from grades 3 to 8. The recent grant award enabled Cornucopia to expand the program to add a 7th and 8th-grade session and offer a limited number of scholarship opportunities.
“It’s very rewarding to watch students and their classmates work side by side preparing good food. It empowers them to think about what they’re putting in their bodies,” remarked Joyce Carroll, Cornucopia’s Community Programs Coordinator.
Cool Chefs classes for 3rd and 4th graders begin Jan.17; 5th to 6th graders begin Jan. 26; 7th to 8th graders begin Feb. 1. Classes are held in the Peterborough Community Center. For full program details, registration, and dates for Session 2, visit Cornucopia’s website at www.cornucopiaproject.org, or email Carroll at admin@cornucopiaproject.org.
And Cornucopia’s founder Kin Schilling will be sharing her culinary skills with soup making classes in Hancock. “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Soup But Was Afraid to Ask” will be held on Jan.26, Feb. 9, and Feb. 23 at Schilling’s home in Hancock.
