“Book Title Illustrations,” an exhibit by members of the Monadnock Camera Club, will be on display in January at the Peterborough Town Library, with a reception on Jan. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The idea of the exhibit came from a discussion between the library’s assistant director, Mary Hubbard, and the president of the Monadnock Camera Club, Linda Greenwood. Staff members at the library submitted a long list of their favorite books and club members chose book titles from that list to creatively illustrate with their photographs. The exhibit was previously on display at the Stephenson Memorial Library in Greenfield.

Aimee LaRue, community art coordinator at the Peterborough Town Library, was happy to hear of the exhibit while it was in its early stages. “I loved the exhibit idea as soon as I heard it,” she said, “and immediately began wondering about how the photographs may or may not correspond with the actual content/storyline of the book.”

LaRue also said that “This creative collaboration is exactly how the Peterborough Town Library would like to become more involved with the artists and organizations of the Monadnock region, working together to show our community how integrated the arts can be into our everyday lives.”

The exhibit will remain up through the month of January and be available to view during regular library hours.

The Monadnock Camera Club meets the third Thursday of the month from September to June. The meetings are held in the Jaffrey Civic Center on Main Street and begin at 7 p.m.
