There were several accidents over the course of the Christmas holiday weekend, according to Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard.

On Friday at 4:10 p.m., there was a two-car accident on Grove Street across from the Police Department, when Rebecca Eder-Linell, 40, of Francestown, hit a vehicle parked legally in the north lane. The vehicle, belonging to Gale Jones of Bennington, and Eder-Linell’s 2013 Toyota, both sustained damage, but Eder-Linell was not injured. Both cars were towed from the scene.

When the roads started to get slick Saturday, police put out a call to state and local highway departments for treatment of the roads around 6 p.m. Shortly after, however, several accidents occurred.

Starting at about 6:45 p.m., in the area of 169 Grove St., a 1992 BMW driven by Keanu LaGrenade, 22, of Rindge, slid off the road and hit a stone wall. LaGrenade was taken to the Monadnock Community Hospital to be checked for injury. The car sustained front-end damage.

Shortly afterward, on Route 101near the Dublin town line, a 2003 Toyota pickup driven by Courtney Barratt, 26, of Vermont, lost control on icy roads, sliding off the road and colliding with the guardrail on the westbound lane, rebounding across the eastbound lane and going off the road across the town boundry in Dublin. Her car had front-end damage, and was towed from the scene, but the driver was otherwise uninjured.

Lastly, on Saturday night, on Summer Street, a car reportedly crossed the opposite travel lane and jumped the sidewalk, colliding with a utility pole. The car left the scene without reporting the incident to police. However, said Guinard, there was no property damage to the pole or area, and no one was injured, meaning they are not seeking the driver for charges. There was front-end damage to the car based on debris at the scene, said Guinard.

There were no accidents reported in Peterborough on Christmas Day, but Monday morning saw another crash on Grove Street.

At around 9:30 a.m., Robert Popovac, 58, of Walpole, was driving a 2011 Hyundai behind Maria Johnson, 55, of Jaffrey, in her 2016 BMW when Johnson stopped on the ramp connecting to Route 101 to yield to traffic. Popovac was unable to stop in time and rear-ended Johnson, causing damage to both vehicles.

Neither driver was injured, and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
