The Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS) sponsored a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening on the steps of the Town House to remember the homeless men and women who have died in the state during the past year. Peterborough is one of nine communities who held the vigil on Dec. 21, the longest night of the year and the official beginning of winter. At 5 p.m. a proclamation from the Governor was read, along with the names of those who died in 2016.
