Jaffrey Head Start was jam-packed with fun and excitement on Thursday morning due to the kindness of a local high school.

Students from Victory High School in Jaffrey hung out with the head start kids on Thursday morning, eating breakfast with them before giving them gifts.

Dubbed the “Spirit of Giving” by Victory High School founder and principal Lorna Letourneau, the event offers the high school students to purchase gifts with their own money for the head start kids. This is the second year the event was held, the first held at the head start.

To start the morning, students of both age brackets co-mingled and enjoyed breakfast together, a combination of pancakes, sausages, fruit, and juice.

Before students were allowed to open presents, they came together to sing Christmas songs.

When it came time to open presents, head start kids’ names were called out one by one, with each kid joining the student that purchased gifts for them. As the high school students were alerted of the wants and needs of the head start kids ahead of time, many students cried out in glee when they opened their gifts.

After taking some time to help the kids open their presents and playing with them, the high school students departed for the day.

In addition to purchasing gifts, Letourneau said the school received enough donations to give every family a $50 gift card to Market Basket.
