The town of Dublin has received interest from two people about reviving the Recreation Committee, but will wait to make any nominations.

The Select Board, which met on Monday, agreed that a committee needs more than two people. Board members hope to have at least five members for the committee.

“I would like to accept the offers we have, but that would only be a committee of two,” said board chair Walt Snitko. “That would be a really small committee.”

In a unanimous vote, the board elected to carry over last year’s recreation budget of $2,552, which offered a small pool of funds for a committee to plan an event like Winter Fest. Should more interest in the committee be established, the board said it was amenable to changing the number at Town Meeting.

The board also talked about potential partnerships with Dublin School, Dublin Consolidated School, and Dublin Community Center, as a way for other organizations in town to either add to the committee’s membership or take over events like Dublin Days and Winter Fest.

The board voted to support warrant articles for $16,800 to build a 16-foot by 20-foot maintenance building for the cemetery committee and $24,750 to paint the town hall. The board also changed the amount of a warrant article for a broadband study from $10,000 to $12,500.

The board spoke to Road Agent Brian Barden, who said there is a concern in town about a tree on Upper Jaffrey Road that is leaning on some telephone wires. Barden said he would see how much it would cost to cut the tree down and see if Eversource would do it.
