A reception will be held on Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Peterborough Townhouse for the Heritage Commission’s new photography exhibit “Our Town through Our Eyes” – photographs by students of Conval High School
Every student from ConVal’s photography and video arts courses submitted photos for the exhibit. The assignment was to “photograph the architecture of Peterborough.” Students were left to interpret this as they saw fit. Some photographed the school itself, others took images of well-known Peterborough buildings, and some chose to photograph at night. The 20 images that comprise the exhibit were selected by photo/video arts teacher Amanda Bastoni for their creativity, visual appeal, and adherence to the goal of the assignment. After completing the assignment students critiqued one another’s work and discussed which images they felt best exemplified the architecture of Peterborough.
“I am so proud of the work they did,” said Bastoni. “We are grateful to the town of Peterborough and the Heritage Commission for creating this opportunity, which gave the students a chance to practice submitting work, meeting a deadline, and seeing their images publicly displayed.”
The photographs will be on exhibit in the entry hall of the Townhouse through the end of March.
