MEN’S SOCCERBlixt, Preber honored again

Franklin Pierce men’s soccer freshman midfielder Jacob Blixt has cleaned up this postseason earning numerous awards while teammate Marius Preber earned another honor.

On Wednesday morning, Blixt was selected to the 2016 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CAA) Men’s Soccer All-America Third Team. He also was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Third Team and the NSCAA Division II Men’s All-East Region First Team.

Blixt was the only freshman to receive both All-America men’s soccer honors and was one of eight underclassmen selected for the CAA selections. Franklin Pierce and fellow Northeast-10 Conference Institution Adelphi University were the only member schools to have players on all CAA teams.

Preber joined his teammate on the NSCAA All-East Region First Team. The graduate student was a CAA East Region First Team choice and a NE-10 First Team selection.

He ranked third in scoring with 13 goals, is fourth in total points (28) and fifth in shots (56). He easily surpassed his single-season career-highs in goals and points that were set last season while adding four contests in which he scored multiple goals. Preber tied with Blixt for the team lead in game-winning goals (4) with his most memorable score coming in the 88th minute during the Ravens signature win of the year, a 1-0 dethroning of the previously no. 2 nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire Penmen on September 28th.
