Jaffrey’s Kitty Rescue and Adoption is still looking for a place to house their rescued and feral cat population for the upcoming year.
The nonprofit organization recently had an offer in place for a property in Peterborough, but the offer has since been pulled, according to Kitty Rescue founder Heidi Bourgeois.
“We thought we had it, but things fell apart in the final hour,” said Bourgeois. “It’s very overwhelming because this is a busy time of year and its hard to do any major fund raising.”
Bourgeois said there are two property options on the table at this point in time, with price tags of $169,000 and $289,000. Currently Kitty Rescue has fundraised just over $100,000.
This year, the no-kill cat sanctuary and adoption center took in 176 cats, adopting out 200. Presently the shelter has 125 cats, more than 80 of which are feral and non-adoptable.
Donations can be made by visiting www.kittyrescueandadoption.org or sending money to PO Box 468 in Jaffrey.
Bourgeois said she is also accepting creative solutions or ideas for different properties, as she does not want the non-profit to not have a space for its cats.
