Classes have resumed at Greenfield Elementary School after a threat directed at a staff member resulted in the cancellation of school on Friday, Nov. 18.
“School opened today as planned,” Superintendent Kim Saunders said Monday morning.
Students did not attend school last week in observation of Thanksgiving, although school staff did report to work throughout the week as scheduled.
State police say an investigation into the incident is ongoing. In an email last week Kieran Fagan, State Police Trooper II, said he would like to have the case closed by the end of the week.
He could not be reached for comment to confirm his findings on Monday.
State Police Lt. Nathan Noyes said the investigation is personal in nature and not tied to the school directly.
He said there was no concern for anyone at the school.
The district canceled classes after the threat had been made, a decision that diverted buses from their regular morning routes and redirected students to Oak Park where parents were asked to pick their kids up.
Students who were not picked up by a certain time were transported to the Francestown Elementary School.
