Conant’s proud swimming tradition was on full display Saturday morning, as the Orioles hosted an alumni swim meet.
“It was a joy for me to have past and present swimmers together,” said Conant coach Margie Clark-Kevan. “It’s great to see that the alumni have held onto their technique and their love for swimming. It was great that although the current swimmers just started their season, they have a lot of heart and talent.”
Three members of the Despres family competed
Kirk Stenersen competed for the alumni, while his daughter, Victoria, swam for the current team
Current Oriole Kole Patten took on older brother Kory
Sandy Siegal took home a win in the 500 Free. Siegal is an alumni who was “instrumental in transforming the team into a more competitive mindset,” Clark-Kevan said, “because she was such a serious and enthusiastic swimmer”
In the end, the current girls’ team ran away with a win, 71-47, while the alumni boys’ team narrowly beat the current team, 70-68.
The Orioles start their regular season on Dec. 9 at Keene at 5 p.m.
