The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team had the lead throughout three quarters of play on Saturday, but couldn’t hold on as they dropped the second game of the young season 60-55 to non-conference opponent University of the Sciences. The loss drops the Crimson and Grey to .500 at 1-1 and the win keeps the Devils undefeated at 2-0.
The Ravens held a six point advantage heading into the fourth quarter, but shot only 3-of-13 (23.1%) from the hardwood and were outscored by a 19-8 margin. Senior guard Dana Campbell led the way with a team-high 14 points. Classmate Alison Palma chipped in nine points to go along with a team-best seven caroms and three assists. Sophomore Sarah Middleton tallied six points, dished out eight helpers, came up with four steals and snagged three boards in the setback.
