NELSONBluegrass at Town Hall next week

Cricket Tell the Weather will bring their original bluegrass and folk music to the Nelson Town Hall on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

The creative project of award-winning songwriter and fiddler Andrea Asprelli and the winner of the 2013 FreshGrass Award, the band features songs with fresh lyrics, thoughtful arrangements, and no-frills vocals.

The daughter of two Classical musicians, Asprelli only began her foray into fiddle music in her 20s, after becoming inspired by New Englandโ€™s small but fiery local bluegrass communities. Her voice as a songwriter came through in 2011, when she was awarded first place in the Podunk Bluegrass Songwriting Competition for her co-written song, โ€œRemington,โ€ about the abandoned gun manufacturing plant in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The band came into the regional spotlight in 2013 as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist and as winners of the FreshGrass Award at Mass MoCA.

The concert is being presented as part of the Monadnock Folklore Society concert series.

Admission is $15, and $12 for seniors, students, or advance purchase.
