This November 11, Peterborough is giving a nod to its service men and women.
On Veterans’ Day, a remembrance service will be held at 9 a.m. at All Saints Church on Concord Street, conducted by the Rev. Jamie Hamilton.
There will be coffee and donuts on the lawn following the service, hosted by the Cheney-Armstrong Post 5 Auxiliary. Refreshments will be in the Old Parish House if there is bad weather.
The annual Veterans’ Day Parade will muster at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans’ Way next to Bellows-Nichols on Main Street. The parade will step off at 10:40 a.m. and march up to the Memorial Gates on Grove Street, where the Veterans’ Day program will take place. If there is rain, the ceremony will be held in the Peterborough Town House.
This year’s featured speaker will be Joseph Ierna, a Korean War veteran who served in the Air Force.
The South Meadow School Band will provide music under the direction of Ed Lowy.
The Auxiliary will have a bake sale opposite the Memorial Gates following the program.
Veterans are encouraged to participate in the parade, with or without their uniform. For more information, contact Wayne or Dee Thomas at 563-8376.
