The Town of New Ipswich announced its 2016 tax rate at its Tuesday, Nov. 1, meeting at the town office.

Residents will owe $26.23 for every $1,000 of assessed value, down six percent from last year’s total.

Of that $26.23, $5.80 is the municipal tax rate, $1.24 the county tax rate, $16.92 the Mascenic Regional School District, and $2.27 the state education rate.

The state and local education numbers are down from 2015. In Greenville, the tax rate was delayed because Mascenic misreported revenue. New Ipswich received the proper quote from the district in time to issue its tax rate.

The town and county rates increased. but only by three and one cents, respectively, per $1,000.

The tax rate in 2015 was $27.91, so residents are keeping $1.68 per $1,000 by comparison in 2016.
