Vision of Democratshas worked

To the editor:

I am tired of Andy Sanborn’s rhetoric of his supposed crusade to protect women. His bill and the other 16 put forth last year in our state, all defeated, were all clearly anti-choice.

I have been active in protecting reproductive rights for over 30 years. Each year the anti-choice legislatures put forth legislation to “protect” women and unborn babies. Fortunately, very few have passed and the parental consent law was found unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court. Why is it that only abortions need to be reported? Many procedures performed and prescriptions written on a daily basis in clinics and private offices are far more dangerous than an abortion.

Has Andy Sanborn written any laws regarding protecting patients, including men, from other medical issues? I do not think so. These bills are anti-choice, anti-women and regressive. Passing these laws intimidates women, especially poor women, and endangers their lives by delaying the scheduling of their abortion. There is no clinical evidence that any of these restrictive laws have done any good for women and lots of examples of the dangers.

So I am voting for Hillary and all the Democrats running in our state. The vision of the Democrats who gave us the “Affordable Care Act,” expanded Medicaid and made accessible and affordable long acting contraception has worked. We are seeing the fastest drop in the rate of abortion since “Roe v. Wade,” dramatic decreases in the unintended pregnancies and a decreased birth rate. This is a win-win scenario brought to you by the Democrats.
