The Jaffrey Select Board will request that the Planning Board consider developing a plan to address drainage issues after a resident’s complaint.

Resident Randy Christmas approached the Select Board on Monday night, asking to have the town create a plan or policy specific to storm water drainage to better guide the Planning Board and Zoning Board when approving site plans and variances.

“This isn’t the ’80s, we should have rules and regulations in place for drainage,” said Christmas.

Selectman Don MacIsaac, who serves as a representative to the Planning Board, said there are situations currently when the Planning Board would request a drainage plan presented by an architect.

MacIsaac specifically referenced a recent site plan for the senior housing center proposed on the St. Patrick School parking lot, where the board had requested a drainage plan.

Christmas, who lives near Belletetes and McDonald’s on Harling Street, said his property has been adversely affected by drainage issues over the years and would like to prevent it from happening to others.

The Select Board also accepted two highway safety grants for the police department.

The grants – $7,626 for DWI patrols and $7,898 for traffic enforcement – will be used to pay a Jaffrey officer who is not covering a patrol shift to work specifically in one of the two areas the grants were approved for.

The board spoke briefly about replacing departing town manager Dave Caron, saying that Municipal Resources Inc. President Alan S. Gould, was conducting interviews.
