To the editor:
So an election is coming up and a lot of folks are nervous. Some are darn near apoplectic. Relax folks, not a huge amount will really change. Too many entrenched, bloated fat cats running things.
Really, does anyone reading this think for a minute that folks love paying for others rent, food, health insurance, etc., etc? No way. Most folks work hard to take care of their stuff. We work two or three jobs, we live lightly, no huge extravagancesโฆ etc. We do not want people to sneak into this country and take our jobs and such, but it is A-OK with us that there are people who want to pick the broccoli that we eat, that is for sure.
But what about the world; shouldnโt that matter? Take a moment and realize that of the nearly 200 countries that exist in the world, only 5 to 10 percentย are currently run by women. Shouldnโt that give one pause? On six of seven continents there is war, strife, poverty, hunger, pollution on a global scale and that is a result of many, many generations of men running things. Letโs face facts; men have made a mess of things.
It seems to me that when leaders of nations are people who have felt life inside of them, then that fact alone would, could, might, perhaps, hopefully, maybe, just may very well, lead to improvement in our countryโs position in the world and that may lead to other countries joining in a wave of like-minded leaders who understand that the future of the planet is in our hands todayย and that men have led us down a path of moral, ethical and environmental degradation. Are future calamities on the horizon? Things that are unpredictable and pretty scary?
Give our future a chance. Give peace a chance. Give woman a chance.
