It’s a spooky, scary time in Wilton.
“The Haunting of Wilton,” an event by the Wilton Main Street Association will have a myriad of events for those young and old on Main Street on Saturday.
Ghosts, goblins and witches will swarm the streets at the start of the day during the Costumed 5K race, starting and ending on Main Street. The racers set off at 11 a.m., with registration opening at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the event will be split between the Main Street Association and the WLC Warriors Athletic Booster Club.
At 10 a.m. to noon, kids can join in on a scavenger hunt at the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library.
And it’s not Halloween unless there’s candy. Kids can get in an early trick-or-treat run by visiting Main Street merchants between the hours of noon and 2 p.m.
There will be several events going on at the Main Street Park in the early afternoon. Face painting will be available from noon to 3 p.m. in the park, and there will be pumpkin carving from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Carvers can bring their own pumpkin or purchase one from the Main Street Association. Or, you can submit a pumpkin you carved at ho. Wilton Main Street Association judges will vote on the top 10 pumpkin carvings to be displayed in the park for the rest of the night’s festivities and for the public to vote on their top three favorites. Home carved pumpkins must be dropped off before 5 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., the top ten pumpkins will be lit up to provide the perfect atmosphere for Spooky Stories in the park. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., residents can vote on their favorite jack-o-lanterns. The winner will be awarded a $25 gift card to the Wilton House of Pizza.
At 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Rise Up! Center at the Riverview Mill will host a Halloween dance party, with crafts. For information, contact the Main Street Association.
