To the editor:
It is a sad occurrence for the members and others who use the Monadnock Country Club, and also for the town itself, that the club will be closing at the end of October. For most people, golf is a healthy activity. If the course and facility happen to reopen next year, I hope that more people will try playing there. In fact, play this month! As those who played there this year know, it has been a rough year for course conditions. However, I enjoy playing the course with all its faults, with the view that its imperfections make it a lot like most people I know and very much like the path of life.
I am an impatient person. Golf helps me to become more patient, and playing the MCC course is additionally helpful in that struggle. The course has challenging terrain throughout and approach shots to many of the greens require thoughtful calculations. In closing, I will miss MCC as an entity, but fervently hope the course and function facility will be reborn next year.
